A WOMAN allegedly stabbed by a man she knew was found bleeding in a Belmont street this afternoon.

Police were called after a passing motorist reported seeing two people fighting and were tonight questioning a man about the attack.

The woman was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with serious stab wounds.

It is understood the man and woman know each other but police have not revealed the nature of their relationship.

Police believe the attack started in a home on Sydenham Street before the injured woman ran onto the street, followed by the man.
