Russia has called the US airstrikes on Syria an ‘illegal act of aggression’, it has emerged.
The United States fired dozens of cruise missiles at a Syrian airbase this morning from which it said a deadly chemical weapons attack was launched this week.
It marked a dramatic escalation of the US military role in Syria that swiftly drew sharp criticism from Russia.
