Paris and Berlin slammed for lack of St Petersburg tribute ‘Do some deaths count more than others?’

Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate was lit up in the colours of the British flag in the wake of the terror attack on Westminster in March while the lights of the Eiffel Tower in Paris went off as a mark of respect.

The German capital’s Brandenburg Gate was lit up in the colours of the British flag in the wake of the terror attack on Westminster in March while the lights of the Eiffel Tower went off as a mark of respect.

But in Berlin, no such measure has been ordered after a suicide bomber launched a deadly attack killing 14 in St Petersburg, which German officials insist is not a ‘sister city’.

In Paris, the city’s mayor Anne Hidalgo came under pressure to explain why the Eiffel Tower’s lights were not dimmed. One Twitter user asked: ‘Why no Russian flag on the Eiffel Tower? Do some deaths count more than other?’

Trump officials: ‘extreme vetting’ for tourists: phones, social media passwords and answer questions about your ideology

Visitors planning getaways to the U.S. might have to relinquish their cell phone contacts and passwords under new ‘extreme vetting’ procedures being developed by the Trump administration.

The tightening could even be applied to longtime allies who are part of the State Department’s Visa Waiver program, which provides expedited admissions without a visa to residents of a list of 38 nations including allies like Britain, Australia, and France.

‘If there is any doubt about a person’s intentions coming to the United States, they should have to overcome—really and truly prove to our satisfaction—that they are coming for legitimate reasons,’ Gene Hamilton, senior counselor to Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly told the Wall Street Journal.

Among the tougher new measures: Visitors would have to answer questions about their ideology, hand over social media passwords and financial records, and their contacts, the paper reported.

Egyptian pyramid dating back 3,700 years uncovered by archaeologists

pyramids-01.jpgAn Egyptian excavation team has discovered the remains of a new pyramid that dates back to the 13th Dynasty some 3,700 years ago, a top antiquities official said. The remains were located north of King Sneferu’s bent pyramid in the Dahshur royal necropolis south of Cairo, the head of the Ancient Egyptian Antiquities Sector, Mahmoud Afifi, said in a statement.

Due to the bent slope of its sides, the pyramid is believed to have been ancient Egypt’s first attempt to build a smooth-sided pyramid.

The necropolis was the burial site for courtiers and high-ranking officials.

Adel Okasha, the head of Dahshur necropolis, said the remains belong to the inner structure of the pyramid, including a corridor.

Pauline Hanson: Four Corners investigation reveals ‘brutal dictatorship’

ONE Nation co-founder David Oldfield has weighed in on the controversy surrounding Pauline Hanson and its operations behind closed doors.

Speaking on the shocking party allegations revealed in the ABC’s Four Cornersinvestigation on Monday, the former politician said he was seeing “a new generation of people burned by Pauline”.

“A classic line I remember from Pauline was her telling me she didn’t believe in democracy because it was just mob rule, so it looks like that’s panning out again, Mr Oldfield said during an interview with News Corp Australia.

He said the complaints aired in the Four Corners story was “like Groundhog Day”.

“Whenever things turn to dog sh*t it has her fingerprints all over it,” he said.

“It’s disappointing but not surprising … mostly I just feel sorry for all the people who were just continually burned by this and I feel very sorry for the people who are the true believers who will never really understand this is how it is.”
