Winx just keeps on trucking, winning her 17th-straight race — the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick.
No Doubt, Hartnell, Happy Clapper and The United States went to the front early, but the back straight belonged to Winx as she won by five lengths.
Hugh Bowman rode her over the line first for the 15th time since the streak started in May of 2015, ahead of rival Hartnell and Sense Of Occasion.
Bowman said he had full confidence in the mare knowing her winning run was on the line.
“It’s really special,” he said.
“I’m really lost for words, she’s just put it all out there. And the amount of expectation on her, I know she’s ready and everything has gone to plan so far.
“I’m just there. I’ve got to savour the moment. I’m so proud of her.”
Trainer Chris Waller admitted the responsibility of caring for the world’s best mare was one he did not want to give to anyone else, but it had taken a toll.
“It is a big relief,” said Waller, who sat watching in relative seclusion as the crowd of 26,801 cheered Winx home…
