Lesbian characters Patsy and Delia share kiss in Call The Midwife finale

It had a birth, a death and a wedding, in what proved to be an emotional hour of TV drama.

But the steamiest moment of Sunday’s Call the Midwife finale came in the closing moments, as lesbian characters Patsy and Delia shared a passionate kiss.

The nurses’ covert love affair began two years ago, but they had never before been shown kissing in the primetime BBC drama.

The display of affection between the two women came as they were reunited after a lengthy period apart, after Patsy’s father fell ill.

As she returned to London last night, she told Delia: ‘I got on the boat the day after his funeral. Wherever I go next, you’re coming with me,’ before they kissed.
