Planes flying again despite nor’easter Stella

Flights are taking off once more at NYC’s JFK airport and New Jersey’s Newark Liberty airport despite the pounding that the East Coast is taking from dangerous Northeast blizzard Stella tonight.

Flights are taking off once more at New York City‘s JFK airport and New Jersey’s Newark Liberty airport despite the pounding that the East Coast is taking from dangerous Northeast blizzard Stella tonight.

With five inches of snow having fallen in the neighboring cities over Tuesday by the downgraded nor’easter, both were able to resume the schedules with one flight to Minnesota departing JFK at 5pm, and another from Salt Lake City landing at Newark at 6pm. Regional services at both have resumed.

Other airports in the hard-hit region also began to tentatively resume operations, but that was little comfort to those on the 8,000 flights that have been canceled since Sunday.

Airports in Boston, Baltimore, Washington and Philadelphia were among the hardest hit, according to flight tracking website FlightAware.
