PERTH has copped more than 40mm of rain in the past 24 hours and the city is in a position to reach its August average in the first 13 days of the month.
Since 9am Tuesday, the metropolitan gauge had received 40.4mm of rain – more than the 35mm that had originally been predicted.
Bickley had received 49mm and Jandakot 48.4mm, with 42.2mm falling in Swanbourne.
There is no let-up in the forecast either, with showers and a possible storm predicted for today, with rainfall estimated between 15 and 30 millimetres.
On top of the rain, it’s also been blustery in Perth overnight – the strongest gusts were in Ocean Reef (95km/h), Rottnest Island (85km/h) and Swanbourne (78km/h).
The temperature is likely to max out at just 14C and strong wind warnings are in place for Perth local waters.
After some respite on Thursday and Friday, the downpours will continue on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, with up to 20mm forecast for each day.
Tuesday will also see showers and a possible 10mm of rain.
The average August rainfall for the Perth metro gauge is 122.4mm and with more than 70mm having arrived already, it’s likely that mark will be reached on the weekend.
