2 JetBlue flights forced to emergency landings after crew taken ill

TWO US planes had to make an emergency landing after passengers smelled fumes and crew members became ill.

The JetBlue Airways flight 19 was scheduled from Boston to San Diego but had to touch down in Buffalo, New York with 126 passengers.

The pilot and two flight attendants were checked by paramedics for dizziness and later went to a nearby hospital for observation.

Michael Feuerstein was a passenger on board the flight and told Fox Boston 25 News: “People were having headaches on the plane. There were children. The smell could be smelled from the wings of the plane to the actual back of the plane.”

He also told The Cheektowaga Chronicle that he and several other passengers smelled an acrid gasoline smell.

“It started to become overpowering roughly 15 minutes to one-half hour before we made our descent. You could smell it and it became even worse when we landed,” he said.

“When we landed, the firefighters walked on board with a carbon monoxide detector to the very back of the airplane where after that it started beeping, extremely, extremely, rapidly,” he said.
