McDonald’s fire: Firefighters battle blaze at Melbourne restaurant

A FIRE is roaring out of a McDonald’s restaurant in Melbourne.

Diners were evacuated from the takeaway eatery in Braeside, in Melbourne’s southeast, about 8.30am this morning.

It is not yet known what caused the blaze as firefighters continue to battle it, but it appears flames are coming from the roof.

A petrol station next to the McDonald’s on the corner of Boundary Road and Centre Dandenong Road has been shut down.

A caller told 3AW the fire looked “substantial”.

“I couldn’t see any flames, but there are billows of smoke coming from the roof,” he said.
