Inspector Morse author Colin Dexter dies aged 86

Colin Dexter, author of the Inspector Morse series, died at his home in Oxford this morning, his publisher Macmillan has said.

The crime writer, 86, was known for his novels, which were written between 1975 and 1999 and later became an ITV series from 1987 to 2000.
