2 die in Venezuela’s ‘mother of all marches’: Brave protester faces down armoured police vehicles

The ‘mother of all marches’ has begun in Venezuela, as the country’s opposition accuses President Maduro of resorting to dictatorial measures to quash popular outrage.

A teenager and a 23-year-old woman have died in the ‘mother of all marches’ in Venezuela.

Hundreds of thousands are marching through the streets of Caracas, as the country’s opposition accuses President Nicolas Maduro of resorting to dictatorial measures to quash popular outrage over a deepening economic crisis.

The teenager, Carlos Moreno was shot in the head as he walked to football practice, and died in the operating theatre as medics battled to save his life.

The 18-year-old student, did not plan to take part in the demonstration when government supporters approached an opposition gathering and fired shots, according to witnesses and a family member. Moreno was shot in the head, they said.

This evening, Paola Ramirez, 23, was killed by gunfire from pro-government groups circling protesters in the western city of San Cristobal, the town’s mayor said.

The university student died after being shot by armed men on motorbikes as she was leaving the protest, in the opposition hotbed of San Cristobal near the Colombia border relatives and witnesses said.
