Child dies after smash in Berwick medical centre car park

A four-year-old boy has died after being hit by a four wheel drive in the car park of a medical centre in Melbourne’s south-east.

The Toyota LandCruiser struck the boy and two adult pedestrians at the Epworth Specialist Centre in Berwick about 12.30pm on Friday.

It’s unclear what caused the smash but the four wheel drive was on its side after also crashing into several vehicles in the car park.

Both Channel Seven and radio station 3AW report the vehicle may have been out of control.

A man in his 50s was taken to hospital in a stable condition and a woman in her 60s was taken to hospital with minor injuries.Ambulances at the scene of the crash.

The man and woman were not related to the boy, police said.

Police are interviewing the driver of the four wheel drive.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the crash.
