Fire destroys elderly couple’s Warwick home | Perth Now

AN elderly couple has lost their home in a fire in Warwick this morning.

The fire started at their two-storey Willow Road home about 4.30am.

It took about 25 firefighters an hour to extinguish the fire, which had already destroyed the roof when they arrived at the property.

The couple are holidaying overseas and no one was inside their home when the fire started.

A neighbour was treated for shock by paramedics after their home became threatened by the fire.

A witness said he was woken by loud popping noises before crews arrived.

“Basically it was just a little fire at the back and then within five minutes the whole back end lit up completely and then the roof started collapsing in,” he said.

Fire crews are still investigating what caused the fire.
