Meth probe: Police seize $1.6 million cash in hire car search in #Perth from 2 Victorian men

POLICE have found $1.6 million in cash in two suitcases after stopping a hire car in the Perth CBD earlier this week.

The car was stopped as part of a nation-wide investigation into methamphetamine dealing.

Officers stopped the car in the CBD at 6.45pm on Tuesday.

A search of the car found two suitcases that contained $1.6 million in cash.

Two Victorian men, a 29-year-old from Carnegie and a 33-year-old man from Vermont South, were both charged with unlawful possession of money.

They are due to appear in the Perth Magistrate’s Court on August 30.

The arrests were part of a joint investigation involving the WA Police Proceeds of Crime Meth Money Team and the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission.
