Traffic and tram chaos will hit Melbourne’s CBD on Tuesday morning, with union organisers predicting up to 15,000 people will march down Swanston Street for a major rally.
Rallies will be held in states around Australia on Tuesday, with workers protesting against cuts to wages, conditions and safety for construction workers, slashed penalty rates, and exploitation of overseas workers.
Thousands of construction, energy and plumbing workers descended on the Victorian Trades Hall Council in Carlton at 10.30am this morning, flooding Lygon Street with a sea hi-vis.
