London attacks inquest hears details of Australian victims’ deaths

Julie and Mark Wallace should have been preparing for a trip to Paris in two weeks’ time to meet their 21-year-old daughter who had been working in the United Kingdom as a nanny.

Instead, the Brisbane parents found themselves at a coroner’s court in South London hearing how their daughter Sara Zelenak had been murdered by Islamists.

It was the first day of the coronial inquest into the deaths of five of the eight victims of the terrorist attack near London Bridge.

Mr and Mrs Wallace sat near the front of the court and heard the grim details of how their beloved daughter had died after she was stabbed in the neck on a Saturday night out on Borough High Street.

The court also heard details surrounding the death of 28-year-old South Australian nurse Kirsty Boden.

Ms Boden, who had recently received a promotion at Guy’s Hospital in London, was stabbed in the chest in Montague Close, just near Southwark Cathedral, after she ran towards danger to help victims of the attack…
