Robbie Glendinning’s baseball journey may have begun in Perth, but he is now planning to take his talents to Pittsburgh after being selected in the Major League Baseball (MLB) draft.
Glendinning, from the coastal suburb of Scarborough, started playing baseball at the age of eight with the Wanneroo Giants.
These days, the 21-year-old competes as an in-fielder at shortstop or second base, bringing big hitting and a strong throwing arm.
After a successful stint at the University of Missouri (MU), Glendinning was selected on day three of the MLB draft on Wednesday by the Pittsburgh Pirates with pick number 628.
He said the forecasts had him being drafted between rounds eight and 15, and he was nervously waiting for his name to be called when it finally happened in round 21.
