Police have placed the Houses of Parliament on lockdown as armed officers respond to an incident outside. Images shared on social media appeared to show a suspect wearing a grey hoodie being detained at gunpoint and handcuffed. A commotion was heard outside Parliament shortly after 11.10am, and armed police ran towards St Stephen’s Gate. The gates to the Palace of Westminster were then shut and journalists inside have been told they cannot leave.
