Toyota is well placed to slay it’s Le Mans demons once and for all, Kamui Kobayashi setting the fastest qualifying lap in the history of the race as the Japanese marque locked out the front row.
Porsche is their sole opponent for outright honours after winning the race for the last two years, including inheriting the 2016 triumph after the leading Toyota suffered a mechanical failure with three minutes remaining.

The German marque’s two cars locked out the second row, with the third Toyota entry starting from fifth.
Three Australians are in the field this year, with the now-retired Mark Webber serving as the Grand Marshal for the event.
Ryan Briscoe is aboard the highest-placed Ford GT on the grid, set to share the No. 69 car with IndyCar star Scott Dixon and British sports car expert Richard Westbrook.
James Allen will line up from 19th on the grid in the LMP2-class Oreca he is sharing with Franck Matelli and Richard Bradley, the trio 13th fastest in their class.
