MARK McGowan says he is a fan of high rise on the coast.
Asked today about a 40 storey, twin tower development proposed by Chinese interests for Scarborough including 300 apartments and four-star hotel, the Premier spoke generally in favour of the concept.
“I personally am supportive of high rise,” he said.
“I’ve had a discussion with (Transport Minister) Rita Saffioti and indicated my support for high rise.
Mr McGowan said there were five or six high rise buildings on the beach in his electorate of Rockingham, which had brought vitality and job opportunities to the area.
The City of Stirling and Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority are yet to assess the Scarborough proposal.
