He may be a household name for his role on TV crime drama Jonathan Creek and decade long tenure on panel show Q1.
But Alan Davies has revealed he has banned his children from watching television as he believes it could scupper their cognitive development.
Speaking to Radio Times, the 50-year-old comedian – who is father to Susie, six, Bobby, five, and 16-month-old Frances – admitted that he and his wife Katie Markell prefer to make their own fun, rather than rely on TV to always entertain.

He said: ‘To be honest we try to keep them away from the telly. Life’s too short. Old and knackered parents, you can sit and watch the telly, but children doing it is depressing. We’re convinced it scrambles their minds.’
