Mafia boss Rocco Arico was sentenced to 14 years jail after he was betrayed by a childhood friend turned informant.
The drug lord who ran organised crime in Brunswick, Melbourne, as his ‘personal fiefdom’ was convicted last month of drug trafficking, extortion and weapons charges.
The 38-year-old must serve at least 10 years and will likely be deported back to Calabria in Italy where he has not lived since he was a nine-month-old baby.
The Australia Tax Office is also trying to seize $10 million of his assets under proceeds of crime laws.
