WA Liberal Party director Andrew Cox quits following election rout

The director of the WA Liberal Party quits following the party’s landslide loss in the March state election.

Andrew Cox has been at the helm for two years. He replaced former director Ben Morton who was successfully elected to the federal seat of Tangney.

In a letter seen by the ABC, Mr Cox acknowledged the party’s electoral wipeout.

“Whilst the state election result was disappointing for the party, I’m confident that the strength of our people and our beliefs will ensure that we remain a strong, vibrant and relevant party,” he said.

Mr Cox said he was leaving for personal reasons, and would be taking up a Canberra-based position in the private sector.

The move comes as the Liberal Party undertakes a broad-ranging review into what happened at the election.
