Ute crashes into bus after police pursuit in Perth’s east

A STOLEN ute has crashed into a Transperth bus in Belmont overnight after the driver allegedly tried to flee police.

The driver of a Holden Commodore ute allegedly did a u-turn at a red traffic light at the intersection of Hardey Road and Great Eastern Highway in Ascot at 10pm last night when he was spotted by police officers.

A short time later he allegedly lost control as he was trying to overtake a bus on Hardey Road in Belmont.

The ute hit the road’s traffic island and a tree before spinning back into the bus.

The driver received cuts and broken bones and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment.
