Adani’s $16 billion Queensland mega mine gets the go-ahead

Adani has officially announced they will proceed on the first stage of the controversial Carmichael coal mine.

Adani has given the green light for the start of their $16 billion Carmichael coal mine in Queensland’s Galilee Basin.

The Indian mining giant has made the announcement alongside Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk in Townsville on Tuesday.

Adani’s board has given the controversial mega-mine the go-ahead after accepting the government’s new royalties deal and will officially open their first office in Townsville as part of the mine’s first stage.
