A family-of-seven have been dealt fresh tragedy after their home was ravaged by fire – their second house to be burned down in four months.
The out-of-control blaze engulfed the home in Alexandra Hills, east of Brisbane, about 11.30 pm on Tuesday, forcing the family to flee.
The home was burned to a blackened shell, but the single mother, her five children – including one in a wheelchair – and another adult escaped injury.
Neighbours reported hearing explosions and screams for help as the fire took grip, according to 9 News.
‘They were horrific screams… Pretty much the loudest I’ve ever heard someone scream,’ neighbour Tarlia Klein said.
A woman aged in her 20s and a man in his 30s were taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.
