John Worsfold hopes troubled former Eagle can break out of current cycle

ESSENDON coach John Worsfold hopes his troubled former player Ben Cousins can break out of his current cycle which has seen him refused bail and locked up.

Cousins, who spent six seasons after Worsfold’s tutelage at West Coast, was refused bail on February 24 and sentenced to spend 14 days behind bars after police arrested and charged the 38-year-old on a number of offences.

The Brownlow medallist was charged with possessing drugs and a smoking implement, aggravated stalking, seven counts of breaching a violence restraining order (VRO), and driving without a licence.

Worsfold told Fox Sports News’ AFL Tonight he was hopeful Cousins would get back to full health as soon as possible.

“Heaps can be done for him with offering help — it’s up to him to really reach out and take that support,” Worsfold said…
