What Is Pushbullet?

If you haven’t heard of Pushbullet, it’s an app for your phone and a Chrome extension for your computer. These talk to each other using your Google or Facebook account and allow you to share a lot of different things between your phone and computer. Here’s a list of everything Pushbullet does:

• Share files and links between from one device to another. This was really Pushbullet’s calling card back in the day: the ability to “push” files and links between devices. This is how it started, and it has just grown from there.
• See your phone’s notifications on your PC. If you don’t want to pick your phone up every time a notification comes in, this is a fantastic feature. It basically mirrors all notifications from your phone on your PC.
• Send SMS messages from your computer. Alongside mirroring notifications, Pushbullet also allows you to send and reply to text messages directly from your computer. Typing from a real keyboard is so much nicer.
• Access files on other devices. If you have multiple phones or tablets, Pushbullet allows you to remotely access the files stored on all of them. Right now, this only works on Android and Windows (requiring the Windows application; this isn’t supported using the Chrome extension).

In addition, there are two versions of Pushbullet: free and pro. The pro version, of course, adds a lot of excellent functionality to Pushbullet, but it will set you back $39.99 a year or $4.99 a month.

So, what do you get for these funds? Quite a bit, actually. Here’s the most notable things: more storage space for sharing files, the ability to send larger files, unlimited text messages sending from the computer, mirrored notification actions, universal copy and paste, and priority support…

Pushbullet, to me at least, is one of those apps that so seamlessly blends into your life, you can’t imagine not using it. It’s something I personally use on the daily, multiple times for multiple reasons. I push files and links from my phone to my computer for reference, I text almost exclusively from my computers when I’m at home, and so on. If you find as much value in Pushbullet as I do, I highly recommend getting Pro. It’s worth every penny.

President Trump buoyed the white nationalist movement on Tuesday as no president has done in generations — equating activists protesting racism with the neo-Nazis and white supremacists who rampaged in Charlottesville, Va., over the weekend.

Never has he gone as far in defending their actions as he did during a wild, street-corner shouting-match of a news conference in the gilded lobby of Trump Tower, angrily asserting that so-called alt-left activists were just as responsible for the bloody confrontation as marchers brandishing swastikas, Confederate battle flags, anti-Semitic banners and “Trump/Pence” signs.

“Thank you President Trump for your honesty & courage to tell the truth,” David Duke, a former Ku Klux Klan leader, wrote in a Twitter post shortly after Mr. Trump spoke.

Richard Spencer, a white nationalist leader who participated in the weekend’s demonstrations and vowed to flood Charlottesville with similar protests in the coming weeks, was equally encouraged. “Trump’s statement was fair and down to earth,” Mr. Spencer tweeted.

Governor Terry McAuliffe of Virginia, a Democrat, wasted little time in accusing the president of adding to the divisions that put an unwanted spotlight on the normally peaceful college town.

AUSSIE Sally Pearson is poised for one of the great sporting comebacks

Sally Pearson is poised for one of the great comebacks after recovering from years of injury to be the fastest qualifier into the world championship hurdles final.

She now stands just 10 hurdles from her ultimate plan – another world championship.

Pearson stood at the blocks in her semi-final and wondered, ‘What if lose? What then?’ Even champions have moments of doubt and Person had more reason than others to question if she still had it in her to win after a string of terrible injuries stopped her competing in a major championship for three years.

At 30, the comeback to fitness. She moved her last coach on and took matters in her own hands. She got herself fit and has now got herself into a world championships final in 12.53 seconds – the fastest time of anyone.

That time as much as the distance she had on the next runner was a big statement to the field that she was back.

The three ways fraudsters target cash machines

Entrapment devices
Inserted into a cash machine’s card slot, these devices retain the card inside the machine. The criminal then tricks the victim into re-entering their PIN while the criminal watches. After the cardholder gives up and leaves, the criminal removes the device with the card and subsequently withdraws cash.

Skimming devices
Attached to the cash machine to record the details from the magnetic stripe of a card while a miniature camera captures the PIN being entered. A fake magnetic stripe card is then produced and used with the genuine PIN to withdraw cash at machines overseas, which have yet to be upgraded to Chip & PIN.

Shoulder surfing
Criminals watch the cardholder entering their PIN, then steal the card using distraction techniques or pick pocketing.

The discovery of the malware, dubbed “Industroyer” and “Crash Override”, highlights the vulnerability of critical infrastructure, just months after the WannaCry ransomware took out NHS computers across the UK.

Industroyer, analysed by the researchers from Slovakia’s ESET and the US’s Dragos, is only the second known case of a virus built and released specifically to disrupt industrial control systems. The first was Stuxnet, a worm that sabotaged the Iranian nuclear programme, which was thought to have been built by the US and Israel.

The virus attacks electricity substations and circuit breakers using industrial communication protocols which are standardised across a number of types of critical infrastructure – from power, water and gas supply to transportation control…

His boss may say Daniel Ricciardo has an ironclad contract for next year, but the Australian said from Monaco this week that time is running out for Red Bull  to deliver him a world title-winning car.

Ricciardo, who signed a two-year extension contract with his team last year, has been a patient  and loyal servant of the Woking-based outfit, but is showing signs of frustration now Ferrari – and particularly Ricciardo’s former teammate Sebastian Vettel –  has clearly surpassed Red Bull as Mercedes’ main challenger.

3 deaths after Jeeps ploughs into auto auction in Massachusetts

THREE people have been killed and more than a dozen injured when a Jeep ploughed into a crowd at an auto auction in Massachusetts in the US.

The New York Post reported the crash happened just after 10am Wednesday (midnight Thursday AEST) at the Lynnway Auto Auction, north of Boston, according to WCVB.

The Jeep was in one of the facility’s eight lanes when it suddenly accelerated and struck the people about 90 minutes after the auction was scheduled to begin, witnesses told the station.

“At this point, there is no evidence or information to suggest the incident was caused by an intentional or terrorist act. All evidence and information at this time suggests an accidental cause,” Massachusetts State Police said in a statement.

Authorities were investigating whether the out-of-control Jeep’s driver had a medical emergency, CBS Boston reported.

The driver — described as a man about 75 years old — had been moving the Jeep Cherokee when he lost control and hit a wall at the auction site, a witness told NBC Boston.

“It’s pretty bad,” witness Andre Fedorov told NBC. “There was a loud noise, everyone started running. Just a car was through the wall, there were people on the ground.”

“It was definitely an accident,” he added. “It wasn’t purposeful.”

Auction worker Woody Tuttle said the Jeep’s driver was trying to avoid hitting other vehicles when it ran into several people standing between the lanes.

“I heard a screeching of tyres, and, I believe, a Jeep Cherokee went flying by me. In avoiding the cars, whoever was driving this vehicle hit several people,” Mr Tuttle said.

The Jeep then smashed through the side of the building.

“(The driver) avoided the cars, and went on to hit the people who were standing between the cars,” Mr Tuttle told WCVB. “Three (men) were on the ground being tended to. There was a woman who was crying, but she was standing up, and I saw two men on the ground who appeared to be dead.”

Randy Miller, who was attending the auction, said it appeared the Jeep was travelling about 64km/h.

“We heard a bang or an explosion. It was almost like a bomb. The whole place just went silent,” Mr Miller said. “There were people just lying on the ground — a horrific, crazy, tragic situation.”

“That was not bad I think,” said the Dutchman modestly. “I really enjoyed that first lap where I passed nine cars and from there onwards I think there were some good moves as well to overtake.

“I was struggling a little bit with the balance of the car because yesterday I didn’t run a lot, of course, in qualifying, so I didn’t really have a good picture of it because we changed a lot from FP3 on the car.

Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., said tonight on CNN that he believed Jeff Sessions committed perjury when the attorney general didn’t disclose his meetings with the Russian ambassador during his Senate confirmation hearings.

‘It’s hard to come to any other conclusion that he just perjured himself,’ Franken told CNN’s Jake Tapper Tuesday afternoon.

After it came out that Sessions had met twice with Russian Amb. Sergey Kislyak over the course of the presidential campaign, the attorney general amended his remarks to the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday saying he ‘did not mention communications he had with the Russian ambassador over the years because the question did not ask about them.’

Murray River UPDATE: Police divers have found the body of a five-year-old boy missing in a river near Moama.

Yesterday the mother of the boy was charged with one count of ­attempted murder after she allegedly tried to drown her two sons in the Murray River.

It is expected her charges will be upgraded to murder.

Outside court, the woman’s lawyer described his client as “confused and upset”.

“She’s pretty upset and really, I think, I got the distinctive impression she doesn’t know what’s going on, not in a legal side of it, just what’s happened with her children,” he said.

“The police were opposing bail, she didn’t ask for bail.

“She said ‘I know these are serious matters and I’m not going to make a bail application’, so she didn’t have to appear.”

The woman’s eldest boy, 9, survived after a dog intervened and attacked her.

A desperate search of the river for his missing five-year-old brother continued today until the discovery late this morning.
