‘The Six Million Dollar Man’ Star Dead At 91

Actor Richard Anderson played Oscar Goldman on the popular 1970s TV series.

Actor Richard Anderson, best known for his role as Oscar Goldman on the 1970s shows “The Six Million Dollar Man” and “The Bionic Woman,” died Thursday, according to his family. He was 91.

Family spokesman Jonathan Taylor told The Associated Press Anderson died of natural causes. He didn’t elaborate.

Anderson’s acting career, which spanned nearly seven decades, started when legendary actor Cary Grant took him under his wing. After that, Anderson became an MGM contract player, appearing in movies like the influential sci fi film “Forbidden Planet.”

Anderson said his career really took after he worked with Stanley Kubrick on the 1957 anti-war classic “Paths Of Glory.”

“That film changed my whole career,” Anderson said, according to Hollywood Reporter.

Aussie Comeback queen Pearson roars to world 100m hurdles gold

Australia’s Sally Pearson completed one of the great sporting comebacks when she overcame two years of injury agony to win the world 100 meters hurdles title at the age of 30 on Saturday.

Pearson, world champion in 2011 and Olympic gold medalist in London in 2012 and with Olympic and world silvers to her name, held off Dawn Harper Nelson, one of four Americans in the field, for an emotional triumph.

She missed the last two seasons due to hamstring and Achilles injuries and a badly broken wrist and feared for her career. But when she clocked 12.48 seconds in the London Diamond League last month – her fastest time for five years – she realized she was in medal-contending form.

She then underlined that by reaching the final as the fastest qualifier in 12.53 on Friday…

400 more homes evacuated as Utah wildfire grows to 11,000 acres as high winds hamper firefighters

A wildfire near a southern Utah ski town has forced the evacuations of 400 more homes after the fire doubled in size amid high winds, authorities said Thursday.

The Utah blaze is one of several burning in the U.S. West as extreme heat makes it difficult for firefighters.

The additional homes being evacuated in the Utah fire are east of the fire’s epicenter in Brian Head, said Denise Dastrup of the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office. Officials are also asking other nearby residents and people visiting a popular fishing area to leave to avoid danger, she said.

More than 700 other people have already been out of their homes since Saturday when evacuations were ordered after the fire was started by someone using a torch to burn weeds.

The fire is burning about 250 miles (402 kilometers) south of Salt Lake City near a tiny mountain town that is home to the Brian Head Resort. The alpine community is near several national monuments and parks in Utah’s red rock country.

The mountain bike and hiking trails, zip line and water tubing hill that lure summer visitors are closed while firefighters try and contain the blaze. The resort, which is a ski area in the winter, says on its website that it still plans to carry out summer activities that include music concerts and 4th of July events but that they don’t when they’ll be able to reopen.

Thousands gather in Moscow to pay tribute to St Petersburg victims

Russian police make eight new arrests in connection with bomb attack on subway that killed 13 and injured more than 50

Thousands of people gathered outside the Kremlin walls on Thursday in solidarity with the victims of Monday’s bomb blast in St Petersburg.

The rallies came as the police announced they had made eight new arrests in connection with the attack that killed 13 people and injured more than 50.

State television said more than 50,000 people had flocked to Manezh Square, though the real number appeared smaller and many people said they had been asked or told by their workplaces or universities to attend.

Nonetheless, there was genuine emotion as the names and biographies of the victims of Monday’s attack were read from a big stage. Those present brought red carnations and some let off black balloons.

In St Petersburg, investigators said they had arrested three men who were natives of the former Soviet republics of central Asia, as was the bomber, Akbarzhon Jalilov, 22, who was born in Kyrgyzstan but had a Russian passport.

Ken wakes up in hospital to quite the headache – and we’re not talking about the one from that bump to the head.

“Ken is so scared,” says William Roache, who plays the Barlow patriarch.

“It has been put into his mind that it must be someone close to him, and if you are frail and sick, the paranoia would be huge.

“He’s going through each of his relatives in his mind and with every one there is a motive. He is deeply hurt that one of his family could want to kill him.”

After Ken reluctantly admits to the police that various members of his brood had reason to bump him off, Adam is questioned about his beef with his grandad.

Realising he needs an alibi, Adam blackmails Rosie into saying he was with her when the attack happened – will she back up his version of events?

Meanwhile, Peter is panicking after leaving a voicemail on Simon’s mobile at the time of the attack, claiming he has to leave town.
