Prince Harry and Meghan Markle return $12 million in wedding gifts

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are returning an estimated $12 million worth of gifts.PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle are set to return ‘£7 million’ ($12 million) in free gifts they were sent for the royal wedding.

To celebrate the royal couple’s special day, Kensington Palace received gifts from various companies.

But there are strict rules surrounding what the couple can be sent and many companies gave them presents to promote their wares and get their publicity.

Essentially, plenty of people could be looking to exploit the royals and profit from it.

But royal officials are having none of it, with clear guidelines on what free gifts can and can’t be received.

The Express reports one such company is swimwear brand Bags of Love, who sold swimsuits with the royal couple’s faces on them leading up to the royal wedding.

Harry and Meghan requested fans and wellwishers give to charity instead of giving gifts.

It appears that hasn’t always been the case, as the Daily Star estimates that the free gifts Harry and Meghan are sending back are worth £7 million ($12 million)..

Evacuations ordered on Hawaii as volcano shows no signs of stopping

This May 27 photo provided by the US Geological Survey, taken from a search aircraft, shows an outbreak of Pahoehoe lava that was very rapidly moving north into a portion of Leilani Estates.THE Hawaii community hardest hit by the Kilauea Volcano has been ordered sealed off under a strict new mandatory evacuation as the eruption marked its fourth week with no end in sight.

The Big Island’s mayor, Harry Kim, declared a 17-block swathe of the lava- stricken Leilani Estates subdivision off-limits indefinitely and gave any residents remaining there 24 hours to leave or face possible arrest. The mandatory evacuation zone lies within a slightly larger area that was already under a voluntary evacuation and curfew.

Trump Signs Waiver Barring Move Of U.S. Embassy In Israel To Jerusalem

The president is backing down from a controversial campaign promise — at least for now.

President Donald Trump on Thursday signed a six-month waiver that will keep the U.S. Embassy in Israel in Tel Aviv, at least temporarily backing down from a controversial campaign promise, according to White House officials.

The waiver to the Jerusalem Embassy Act ― the 1995 U.S. law that declared Jerusalem Israel’s capital and required that the American embassy be officially relocated there ― was set to expire on June 2. Since the law’s adoption, every president has signed the recurring waiver.

Trump had vowed during the presidential campaign to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem “fairly quickly” after taking office, a promise welcomed by many of his supporters, including the new U.S. ambassador to Israel and the country’s government.

The president had already cast doubts over an immediate move in recent months, and a little over four months after the inauguration, Trump appears to have decided the move would complicate his diplomatic efforts in the region.

Palestinians and Israelis both consider Jerusalem their capital, but moving the embassy would be seen as an acknowledgement that the Trump administration is siding with Israel.

The Agatha Christie adaptation, with an all-star cast to boot, is a steady tradition in British television, but it’s been a while since Hollywood’s dipped its toe in the pool. Until now, with Kenneth Branagh’s Murder on the Orient Express gearing up for release, as the actor/director also steps into the shoes of Christie’s most famous detective, Hercule Poirot.

Dangers of swimming with a new tattoo exposed in alarming images of man who died from infection

The dangers of swimming with a new tattoo have been demonstrated in a series of alarming images. Tattoo artists generally advise not entering the sea or freshwater until two weeks after ink has been applied.  But in a worst-case-scenario, a 31-year-old man with a heavy drinking habit caught a dangerous bacteria while swimming in the Gulf of Mexico.

The vibrio vulnificus bug is believed to have entered his body through the raw tattoo wound and later killed him.

The findings were demonstrated in the journal BMJ Case Reports, which published the case to highlight the risks of the infection combined with liver cirrhosis.

Princess Diana’s Paris crash car was reportedly a ‘rebuilt wreck’ at the time of the accident that killed her

THE car which Princess Diana died in was reportedly a dangerous “rebuilt wreck” but concerns about its safety were ignored, a program on French television reported.

The program, M6 called Death Of Diana: The Incredible Revelation, aired claims that just two months before Princess Diana’s death on August 31, 1997, there was reportedly a warning that the car was not roadworthy.

The black Mercedes-Benz S280 was used by guests at the Ritz, which was owned by businessman Mohamed Fayed, whose son was Princess Diana’s boyfriend Dodi Fayed. The car was said to be owned by Etoile Limousines, which provided chauffeurs and cars to the Ritz.

Ben Cousins’ EX Maylea Tinecheff says the fallen AFL star is a ‘broken man’, but she still loves him

DRUGS have “destroyed” West Coast premiership hero Ben Cousins, according to his former partner.

Maylea Tinecheff, the mother of Cousins’ two children, said it was “very sad” to see the jailed former AFL star’s life spiral out of control in front of her eyes.

“The drugs have destroyed him,” Ms Tinecheff told Channel Seven’s Sunday Night.

“He’s a broken man, it’s very sad.”

The Brownlow medallist is serving a one-year prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to stalking and repeatedly breaching a violence restraining order taken out by Ms Tinecheff.

The VRO breaches stemmed from Cousins visiting his children’s school and church, and calling Ms Tinecheff.

“Paranoia, lies, stealing things…he was violent,” she revealed.

Margaret Court used in gay event poster

A Melbourne based events group which describes itself as ‘a night for homosexuals and those who love them’ has used controversial tennis great Margaret Court’s image on a promotional poster.

The veteran tennis player has been in the spotlight after she called for a boycott of Australian airline Qantas because the company supports same-sex marriage.

She has also claimed tennis is ‘full of lesbians’ and has linked gender dysphoria with communism and the devil in a radio interview.

The poster features Ms Court’s face along with the words ‘Closet Party’, promoting an event at a Melbourne nightclub catering for homosexuals ‘and those who love them’.

Flynn and Trump lawyer subpoenaed over Russia investigation

The House intelligence committee approved subpoenas for two individuals as a part of the ongoing investigation into Russia’s role in the 2016 presidential election: former national security adviser Michael Flynn and President Trump‘s attorney, Michael Cohen.

The subpoenas require both Flynn and Cohen to testify before the committee, as well as turn over personal documents and business records.

“We hope and expect that anyone called to testify or provide documents will comply with that request, so that we may gain all the information within the scope of our investigation,” Reps. Mike Conaway, R-Texas, and Adam Schiff, D-California, said in a statement. “We will continue to pursue this investigation wherever the facts may lead.”

Both Flynn and Cohen have resisted the committee’s requests for their testimony.

Footage has emerged of dozens of vehicles reinforced by Islamic State to be used in deadly suicide attacks.

The vehicles were captured near the Old City in battle-torn Mosul, where IS jihadists are attempting to repel Iraqi forces trying to recapture the city.

A video released by police shows lines of cars and trucks covered in sheets of metal to shield suicide attackers from gunfire.

Others were shaped to resemble tanks, with one appearing to have a makeshift turret hatch.

Martina Navratilova: Margaret Court is… a racist and a homophobe. Her vitriol…

An open letter from Martina Navratilova to Margaret Court Arena

…I did not know about until now were the unabashed racist statements she made in the ’70s about apartheid in South Africa. Saying that South Africa dealt with the “situation” (meaning people of colour) much better than anywhere else in the world, particularly the US: what exactly did she mean by that?

Now she is doubling down with her ridiculous comments about older women luring young girls on the tour to parties to turn them into lesbians. It’s a good thing she didn’t name anyone as I am pretty sure she would be sued for defamation.

‘We celebrate free speech, but that doesn’t mean it is free of consequences,’ writes Martina Navratilova.

‘Never seen anything like this’: Inside Indonesia’s LGBT crackdown

In less than 18 months, being gay in Indonesia has gone from widely tolerated to just plain dangerous.

An unprecedented wave of police raids, vigilante attacks, and calls for the criminalization of homosexual sex have left many in the country’s LGBT community fearing for their safety.
“(Gay Indonesians) are exhausted and they’re horrified,” Kyle Knight, a Human Rights Watch researcher with the LGBT rights program, told CNN.
“Even the activists I know who started the very first organizations in the 1980s say they’ve never seen anything like this.”
It’s a dark turn for a country that for decades prided itself on its diverse, heterogeneous society…
