Sydney toddler Kawa Sweeney ‘loses battle’ after near-drowning in Bali pool

A Sydney toddler who was airlifted to Perth after falling into a Bali pool has “lost her battle” for life, her family says.

Kawa Sweeney, three, was pulled from the bottom of a pool in Bali on Sunday at the family’s villa.

It is believed the family elected to switch off her life support at Princess Margaret Hospital this afternoon.

In a statement to media, her parents thanked those who tried to save their daughter.

“Unfortunately, in spite of all the hopes and prayers Kawa has lost her battle. Family are saying goodbye today,” the statement read.

“We would like to thank everyone who has gone above and beyond in all of this.

“Thank you to Grant and Kelly, everyone who helped us in Bali, the medivac team, the doctors and the incredible nurses at Princess Margaret Hospital in the PICU who have been with us 24/7 since arriving in Perth.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported us with their thoughts, prayers, love and donations.

“We are overwhelmed with your generosity and are grateful for all that you have given us in
