Barcelona train crash injures scores of commuters

Five people seriously injured after commuter train crashes into buffers at Francia station

A commuter train has crashed into a railway buffer in Barcelona’s Francia station injuring 48 people, five seriously. There were no deaths reported.

At least 18 of the injured need hospital attention, and the driver was among the injured, emergency services said.

The train was coming from the village of Sant Vicenç de Calders in the province of Tarragona on the R2 line of the Rodalies commuter rail service.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
