#Perth weather: heavy rain causes building collapse in Mt Hawthorn

HEAVY rain is believed to have caused part of a building to collapse in Mount Hawthorn.

The incident happened on Oxford Street around 11.30am Wednesday morning.

The awning outside a new medical centre and barber shop collapsed following heavy rain.

It is believed one man aged in his 30s was injured and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Tim Van Den Akker, who works nextdoor at Festival Travel, told PerthNow staff heard a loud bang then looked outside to see what had happened.

He said a man who was outside suffered head injuries and was rushed to hospital for treatment.

More to come.
