Collingwood legend Lou Richards dead at 94

Australian Rules legend and sports journalist Lou Richards has died, aged 94.

The former Collingwood star died peacefully at his Melbourne nursing home on Monday afternoon, The Age reported.

In 1953, Richards captained the Magpies to their first in premiership in 17 years.

On Monday, the club took to twitter to confirm the sad news.

‘The club is deeply saddened by the passing of the great Lou Richards,’ the tweet read.

He shared two daughters with his wife Edna, who died in 2008.

More to come.
