A worker has been killed after a brick wall collapsed on him at a building site in Sydney’s northwest which was being buffeted by strong winds.
The 30-year-old man died after he was trapped under the wall at Carlingford before 10am on Wednesday, NSW Police said in a statement.
They said the wall, which was under construction, was “blown over in the wind”.
The Bureau of Meteorology recorded wind gusts of up to 72km/h on Wednesday morning at the nearby Olympic Park weather station.
Paramedics performed CPR on the man after he went into cardiac arrest, a NSW Ambulance spokesman told AAP.
Construction workers had earlier dug through rubble at the Carlingford site to find their trapped colleague.
In a separate incident at Kellyville, about 20km away, paramedics treated a young man for significant head and facial injuries after he too was hit by a collapsing wall.
He was taken to Westmead Hospital.
SafeWork NSW has sent inspectors to both sites.
