The Turnbull government has suffered an embarrassing defeat on the floor of parliament, losing a vote on changes to an uncontroversial bill.
Labor’s amendments to changes to the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Act got up 69-61 in the lower house on Tuesday.
But Leader of the House Christopher Pyne asked the vote be retaken, claiming the bells for the division should have rung for four minutes instead of one.
