AN emergent situation has been declared after police were called to a home in Raceview following reports of an armed man.

Police attended the home on South Station St about 2.10pm and declared an emergent situation about 20 minutes later.

An exclusion zone bordering Petaine St, Kingston Wy, Cascade St and Dalray Dr has been established.

London tube station evacuated after fire: Oxford Circus

ONE of the busiest tube stations on London has been evacuated after smoke filled a train carriage.

Pictures on social media show grey smoke billowing out of the carriage on the Bakerloo line while passengers stand on the Oxford Circus platform covering their mouths and noses.

Other photographs show people standing in dark, smoke-filled carriages covering their faces with items of clothing.

Oxford Circus station services London’s busiest shopping street and sees thousands of commuters pass through it during the rush hour.

London Fire Brigade said it was called to the scene at 8.50am local time and that three fire engines had been sent…

Iran says arrests seven suspects linked to Tehran attacks

Iranian authorities have arrested seven people suspected of helping militants involved in this week’s attacks in the capital Tehran, a judiciary official said on Saturday.

Islamic State claimed responsibility for the suicide bombings and gun attacks on parliament and the mausoleum of the Islamic Republic’s founder, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, that killed 17 people on Wednesday.

Ahmad Fazelian, a provincial judiciary official, said the seven, suspected of “providing support for the terrorist team”, were detained in Fardis, about 50 km (31 miles) west of Tehran, the judiciary’s online news agency Mizan reported.

On Friday, authorities announced the arrests of 41 suspects in connection with the twin Tehran attacks…

Why ‘Over the Rainbow’ was the perfect closer for Ariana Grande’s Manchester tribute

“It represents everyone’s wondering why things can’t be a little better,” Judy Garland once said of the enduring song.

She began to sing “Over the Rainbow,” an optimistic coda for a tribute concert to the 22 killed and more than 55 injured by a terrorist attack at her May 22 show in Manchester. Halfway through, her voice faltered with emotion.

The concertgoers, so recently touched by tragedy, remained mostly silent as they waved their lit phone screens in the night sky, just as people held lighters 20 years earlier. Several audience members cried as Grande’s voice soared with lyrics that have stood for hope for some eight decades.

The song was first written for the 1939 film “The Wizard of Oz,” and sung by Judy Garland’s Dorothy before visiting the enchanted land of Oz…

The Marvel TV series debuted on 17 March and, according to data from research firm 7Park Data, the percentage of people watching episodes three or higher was above the binge score an average hour-long episode of television would usually receive.
