Ibrahims await extradition in Dubai cell

Fadi and Michael Ibrahim are expected to spend the next few days sweltering in a Dubai police cell while authorities continue to process their extradition from the United Arab Emirates back to Australia.

The two brothers of Kings Cross nightclub figure John Ibrahim were arrested at a Dubai marina as part of a joint Australian-UAE-Dutch investigation into an alleged international drug syndicate.

UAE authorities are still processing the extradition request, which is expected to take a few more days, 7News reported on Sunday.

The brothers reportedly will remain locked in one of the city’s hot and overcrowded police cells until being sent back to Sydney.

John Ibrahim’s son Daniel Ibrahim, who also goes by the name Daniel Taylor, was arrested in the Sydney raids for allegedly handing over $2.25 million to buy illegal tobacco as part of a deal police say was masterminded by his uncle, Michael.

John’s model girlfriend, Sarah Budge, was also swept up in the operation.

She is not involved in the drug-smuggling syndicate but has faced court on firearms and ammunition charges.

Both Taylor and Budge walked free on bail last week.
