Flight delays and diversions are expected for domestic and some international flights at Melbourne airport as a thick fog blankets the city.
One plane has already been diverted and passengers can expect delays because of the pea souper, an Airservices Australia spokeswoman said.
The weather on Wednesday morning forced a Qantas international flight to divert to Sydney.
“Some international planes can usually navigate through fog, it all depends on the type of equipment the plane is equipped with,” the spokeswoman told AAP.
Passengers are being urged to check with their airline, particularly if they are travelling on a domestic flight.
The fog has VicRoads warning drivers to take care on roads, slow down and use their low-beam lights or fog lights if visibility is poor.
