Following a run of horrific weather, which tore through the area late March, the Whitsunday region is working to recover from the damage left behind by tropical cyclone Debbie.

In March Tigerair launched four weekly return services between Brisbane and Whitsundays (pictured) providing in total 200,000 visitor seats annually through Whitsunday Coast AirportAlthough some resorts including Daydream Island and Hayman Island will stay closed until the middle of 2018 a number of operators have reopened and are luring tourists back to the holiday hot-spot, with the help of Tigerair.

Tigerair Australia Head of Communications, Vanessa Regan said Tigerair Australia is thrilled to be able to support the efforts of their airport and tourism partners in the Whitsundays which is now open for business as usual.

‘While the effects of the cyclone were severe, they were also short lived and the Whitsundays remain a jewel in Queensland tourism’s crown. The way the region and tourism operators have worked together to quickly restore normality is testament to the resilience and passion of the tourism industry in the Whitsundays.’

‘Through our great value fares and commitment to the region, we want to encourage Australian’s to show their support by booking great value travel deals to the Whitsundays.’
