The Sickening Moment Andrew Bogut Breaks His Leg In First Game For Cavaliers

Look away, ye of gentle stomachs.

Last week, we told you how Australia’s most celebrated basketballer Andrew Bogut had transferred mid-season to reigning NBA champs, the Cleveland Cavaliers. His first game did not go to plan to say the very least.

Just two minutes into the contest against the Miami Heat, Bogut was defending when his lower leg was clipped by Heat forward Okaro White. He immediately hopped away from the action, then hoisted his 213cm frame out of harm’s way with his hands.

The result? A fracture in his left tibia.

It’s the latest in a long string of injuries for the 32-year-old Melburnian, who missed most of January and February with a hamstring injury. It must also cast doubt on the long-term viability of his NBA career, which now spans four clubs

Before this particular break, Bogut’s most famous bone-snapping NBA moment was this, for the Milwaukee Bucks, as he gave a lesson in how not to land after a slam dunk. Ouch.
