Aussie Schoolgirl Isis Holt avenges Rio loss with para-athletics world title

TEENAGE athletic star Isis Holt has avenged her loss in Rio a year ago to claim gold in the 200m final at the world Para-Athletics championships in London.

Just two years ago when 14 Holt won a world title in her pet 200m T35 event on her world championship debut but lost the top ranking in the event to China’s Zhou Xia in Rio last year.

But on Monday the Australian schoolgirl shocked even herself with a blistering run which put her back on the top step of the medal dais.

“I still can’t believe what’s just happened, I didn’t expect to run so fast,” the Melbourne schoolgirl said.

“It was a little bit of revenge for me to win again, but more than that it was really great to come back after Rio and be able to keep this title.

“When I won the title in Doha, I remember not knowing what to expect and then in Rio, I was really results-driven which hindered how I performed.
