2000 more homes to be evacuated as ‘toxic’ smoke from huge fire blankets Melbourne

Another 2000 residents could be evacuated from their homes on Friday as a massive fire at a Coolaroo recycling plant continues into its second day, shrouding parts of Melbourne in toxic smoke.

Paramedics responded to five triple-0 calls for people with respiratory problems overnight.

Four of those people were hospitalised.

Eight people were treated by paramedics at the relief centre set up at the Broadmeadows Aquatic Leisure Centre for displaced locals…
