24 high school students rushed to hospital after ‘inhaling toxic gas’

Twenty-four teenagers were sent to hospital after inhaling chemicals at their high school.

Paramedics were called to Millmerran State High School, which is around 200km west of Brisbane, after a ‘chemical inhalation incident’ at about 10am on Friday.

Queensland Ambulance said the students were taken to Millmerran Hospital in a stable condition.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency spokesman said firefighters were sent to the affected part of the school in breathing apparatus.

They carried out atmospheric testing and didn’t detect any chemicals and are now ventilating the area.
