BBC’s Versailles is set to get steamier with tomorrow’s episode featuring the drama’s most shocking sex scenes yet.
The launch of Versailles’ second series has brought outrage and shock and it looks set to continue as latest stills show actress Anna Brewster strip completely naked before taking part in a bizarre blood ritual.
Anna, 31, plays Madame de Montespan, the King’s chief mistress who hasn’t let her pregnancy get in the way of her and the King’s busy sex life.
One critic compared the love making scenes as if the King is ‘pushing a wheelbarrow up a hill’ – not the most flattering assessment of a royal bonking.
In pictures of tomorrow night’s shocking new episode, Madame de Montespan can be seen standing completely starkers in an extravagant bathtub while being confronted by an unseen figure.
The drama follows the life story of King Louis XIV and his French dynasty. One graphic image reveals the King in a moment of passion with a pregnant Madame de Montespan while in another his brother – Philippe I, Duke of Orleans – lays naked with a manservant.
Anna Brewster, 31, who plays Madame de Montespan insists that any debauchery is purely an attempt at achieving factual accuracy.
The actress explains: “There are going to be things that come up that will be very shocking for viewers, but we hope that people realise that we’re just trying to be as truthful as possible about how things would have been.”
