New South Wales/Qld: Man Arrested After Alleged 17-Hour Abduction Of 22-Year-Old

Police are seeking to extradite him back to Queensland.

A man has been arrested in northern New South Wales after a 22-year-old woman was abducted from her Brisbane home on Monday night in a 17-hour ordeal.

Police are seeking to extradite the 50-year-old man back to Queensland on Wednesday, where he will be charged with kidnapping, deprivation of liberty, assault and other charges.

It’s alleged that the man broke into the woman’s home on Cardiff Street in the Brisbane suburb of Darra at 8pm on Monday night and kidnapped her.

The young woman told police that she was driven to several locations and assaulted and threatened with further violence before being released at around 1:30pm on Tuesday afternoon.

The Brisbane woman was taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Travellers on a troubled Qantas flight are finally on their way back to Sydney

Travellers on a troubled Qantas flight are finally on their way back to Sydney on Wednesday after a series of technical problems delayed their flight for almost two days.

Flight QF2 left London on schedule but was delayed in Dubai on Monday due to a fault with the A380’s airconditioning system.

Passengers complained about a lack of communication from the airline.

Scrubs Bill Lawrence: Escaped with his life when seaplane ditched into NY East River

THE creator of hit TV show Scrubs tried to laugh off the moment his plane crash-landed into New York’s East River on Friday afternoon.

Television producer Bill Lawrence, who was a passenger on the small plane, posted snaps to social media in the aftermath of the close encounter.

He posted a picture of himself in a life jacket with the caption: “Going to go drink tequila continuously. #Lucky”

Only one day earlier he had posted a video of a separate – smoother – landing alongside the words: “Just landing in the east river. No big deal. #Baller.”

“I don’t like this,” the worried TV producer can be heard saying…

4 Adelaide high schools evacuated after bomb threats

Hundreds of students and staff have been evacuated from at least four high schools in Adelaide after bomb threats were sent via email on Thursday morning.

Emergency services were sent to Adelaide Secondary School of English, in the city’s west, after a threat was reportedly emailed to the school, 7 News reports.

Daily Mail Australia understands that at least three other schools received similar threats. .

Students and staff from Adelaide School of English returned to class by midday after the threat was reportedly deemed a hoax.

South Australia Police said they were aware of the threats but provided no comment on reports of further bomb scares at nearby schools.

‘Police are aware of threats made to schools today,’ a spokesperson said in a statement.

‘SAPOL takes all threats such as this seriously and can assure the community its working with partner agencies across Australia and overseas to pursue those who make such threats.

‘There are serious penalties, including imprisonment for persons convicted of creating a false belief.’

Eight injured after plane clips an airport truck + flips it over at LAX

Eight people were injured when a plane clipped an airport utility truck on Saturday.

Shortly after landing at Los Angeles International Airport, the Aeromexico flight collided with the truck.

The truck was flipped over, seriously injuring two employees inside who had to be rushed to the hospital.

The Boeing 737 was taxiing to an arrival gate when it collided with a utility truck carrying eight people, fire and airport officials said.

‘It clipped a service truck,’ said Rob Pedregon, a Los Angeles Airport Police spokesman.

‘They had already landed and were taxiing.’

Two people in the truck were seriously hurt, and six people in the truck suffered minor injuries, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

No one was hurt on the flight from Mexico City, which was carrying about 146 passengers and crew.

The plane’s wing was damaged in the collision, the fire department said.

Airport operations were not affected, Pedregon said.

Messages were left for Aeromexico seeking comment.

2 survive as light plane crashes into paddock near Camden Airport

A light plane with two people on board has crashed into a paddock near Camden Airport in Sydney’s south-west, firefighters say.

The single-engine aircraft, with a man and a woman, understood to be in their early 20s, on board, came down not far from a residential street.

Both survived the crash.

NSW Ambulance paramedics are treating the man, who is understood to be the pilot, for facial and head injuries, and the woman for an injured ankle.

Their injuries are not life-threatening, paramedics said.

Police and Fire & Rescue NSW firefighters are at the crash scene.

The cause of the crash is not yet known.

It is believed the tiny pill could revolutionise medicine by constantly monitoring your health and administering medicine. The creation was unveiled in Boston by Dr Phillip Nadeau.

‘It sits there making measurements and transmitting them to your phone.’

The creation was unveiled at the world’s biggest science conference in Boston.

Researcher Dr Phillip Nadeau, from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, said: ‘The self-powered pill would monitor your vital signs from inside for weeks’

It was inspired by a lemon battery which uses citric acid to charge a zinc nail and copper penny electrodes.

A version of the pill, that powers up when a zinc electrode interacts with stomach acid, was tested on pigs.

Small sensors continually monitor temperature and heart rate.

The 30mm-long device took six days to travel through the digestive tract of a pig.

Scientists want to create a smaller version of the pill for humans – the prototype measures 10mm.

The version with star-shaped arms is designed to stay in the stomach without risking blockages….
