Car fire at Coles Melb HQ, 2000 evacuated

Two thousand workers were evacuated from Coles’ Melbourne head office because of a car fire in the basement.

A pair of security guards who attempted to put out the fire suffered mild smoke inhalation and were treated at the scene by paramedics.

The fire was contained to the car’s engine compartment and was quickly extinguished by MFB crews, but smoke had made its way into several levels of the Toorak Road, Hawthorn East, office building.
