American Diplomats Suffered Brain Injuries After ‘Sonic Attack’ In Cuba

Some officials now have to wear hearing aids.

A doctor who evaluated American and Canadian diplomats working in Cuba diagnosed them with conditions as serious as mild traumatic brain injury and damage to the central nervous system, CBS News said on Wednesday, citing medical records it reviewed.

The diplomats had complained of symptoms including hearing loss, nausea, headaches and balance disorders after what were described as “incidents” that began affecting them in Havana beginning in late 2016, CBS News said.

Officials are investigating whether the diplomats were targets of some form of sonic attack directed at their homes, CBS reported, citing a source familiar with the incidents. The source said the incidents had continued to occur on the Communist-ruled island and that some U.S. diplomats had cut short their assignments there.

Asked about the CBS report, a U.S. State Department spokeswoman said the department did not have “definitive answers” on the source or cause of the incidents.

UK Alton Towers Ride breaks on hottest day leaving dozens stuck upside down 80ft in the air

THIRLLSEEKERS were left dangling upside down 80ft in the air on the hottest day of the year after a rollercoaster at Alton Towers broke down.

The Galactica ride got stuck on its tracks leaving dozens of riders stranded for up to half-an-hour as temperatures rose to 33.9C today.

One flustered thrillseeker said he was left staring at a pile of rocks while others said they had to be told they were stranded as they were wearing virtual reality headsets.

Disappointed punters also reported queuing for two hours – only to discover the £12 million ride was closed.

Michelle Neale took to Twitter to say she had been trapped on the ride and wrote: “Fab day @altontowers with my favs 30mins stuck on galatica was interesting!!”

THREE Perth women who were in a pub where the London Bridge terrorists were shot dead have told of the moment they feared they were about to be murdered by knife-wielding jihadis.

Friends Rass Meechamnan, Emily Ferns and Madi Lewis hid in a toilet cubicle at The Wheatsheaf in Borough Market with other terrified customers as staff barricaded the doors with beer kegs.

As the three men smashed windows to gain access to drinkers inside, 26-year-old Rass, of Jandakot, sent text messages to her parents back home in WA saying: “Dad and Mum I love you so much.”

“I honestly thought we were going to die,” Rass told PerthNow through tears. “I messaged my dad and I messaged my boyfriend just to say that I loved them because I truly thought that was it.”

Police descended upon Florida’s Orlando International Airport Tuesday night in response to a man with a weapon in one of the airport’s rental car lots.

“Incident ongoing involving man w/ weapon in terminal – Level 1 A-side, rental car area. Police on scene, area contained. Min impact to ops,” tweeted Orlando International Airport at 8:21 p.m.

Killer had recently visited Libya – reports

There are reports tonight that Salman Abedi, named as the perpetrator of the attack, had visited Libya recently, with some saying he returned to the UK only days before he killed 22 people at the Manchester Arena.

The Times reports that he spent time in Libya, citing an unnamed school friend:

He went to Libya three weeks ago and came back recently, like days ago.

Abedi was British, but his family is from Libya. The Guardian understands that his father, Abu Ismail Abedi, is thought to be in Tripoli.

The Sun reports that Salman Abedi may have used trips to Libya to travel to Syria. This has not been confirmed.
