Child porn ring member Leon Berger jailed for ten months. “I would do it with babies if I could,” Why not 10 years [or more]?

Leon Berger was a member of a child porn group that involved A Current Affair reporter Ben McCormack.ONE of the members of a group of paedophile friends – which included former A Current Affair reporter Ben McCormack – has been jailed by a Perth judge.

Former bank employee Leon Mario Berger, 36, appeared in WA’s District Court earlier this year and admitted possessing child pornography. Berger was charged after he was caught along with two other WA paedophiles and McCormack following an interstate police operation.

While his lawyer pointed out that McCormack had not been sent to prison over his child pornography charges, Judge Patrick O’Neal said he was not satisfied that Berger had truly accepted his paedophilic disorder.

Berger was jailed for ten months but will be eligible for parole after five.

The court had previously heard how Berger was found with sickening imagery and a video, which included one photo of a six year-old boy being abused by an adult male – an act which Berger claimed he wanted to do himself.

In Skype chats and other messaging with McCormack and WA teacher Mathew Reale, who was also in touch with the disgraced former TV journalist, Berger revealed his own perversions, which included a fantasy about a drugging, kidnapping and raping a young male relative.

“I would do it with babies if I could,” was just one of the messages he sent.

Trump pulling U.S. out of Paris climate deal: Axios

U.S. President Donald Trump has decided to withdraw from the Paris climate accord, Axios news outlet reported on Wednesday, citing two unidentified sources with direct knowledge of the decision.

Trump who has previously called global warming a hoax, refused to endorse the landmark climate change accord at a summit of the G7 group of wealthy nations on Saturday, saying he needed more time to decide. He then tweeted that he would make an announcement this week.

Fox News also cited an unidentified source confirming the pullout.

The accord, agreed on by nearly 200 countries in Paris in 2015, aims to limit planetary warming in part by slashing carbon dioxide and other emissions from the burning of fossil fuels. Under the pact, the United States committed to reducing its emissions by 26 to 28 percent from 2005 levels by 2025.

Axios said details of the pullout are being worked out by a team…

Veteran Margaret Court says tennis ‘full of lesbians’

Australian tennis legend Margaret Court is again in the headlines, saying her sport is ‘full of lesbians’, which comes just days after her controversial boycott of Qantas airlines over CEO Alan Joyce’s involvement in the same-sex marriage debate.

Court, who is now a pastor, told radio show Vision Christian Radio: “Tennis is full of lesbians, because even when I was playing there was only a couple there, but those couple that led, that took young ones into parties and things.”

“And you know, what you get at the top is often what you’ll get right through that sport,” she said.

“We’re there to help them overcome. We’re not against the people.”

Court drew public criticism last week after writing an open letter saying that she would not fly with Qantas Airlines due to its support for same-sex marriage

Silicon Valley: the best and only comedy you should be watching

While people gab endlessly about lesser shows, this sitcom about a tech startup has been quietly scaling ever more majestic heights

I’m going to tell you two things that are unequivocally true. First, Silicon Valley is the best comedy on television at the moment. Second, not nearly enough people are talking about it.

I’ve spent the last couple of months watching the internet froth itself dry over a succession of lesser comedies – your Kimmy Schmidts, your Car Shares, your Masters of None – while Silicon Valley has quietly scaled ever more peerlessly majestic heights. And now I’m here to say stop. Enough is enough. Silicon Valley is astonishing. The fact that you’re not watching it is ridiculous.

If you’re new to it, Silicon Valley is a sitcom about a tech startup called Pied Piper. Its CEO is Richard Hendricks, a prodigiously gifted coder whose desire to always play fair puts him directly in the sights of all the sharks and wolves…

Not a place in paradise awaiting terrorists – but hate preachers who exploit vulnerable young Muslims in this life

salman-abedi-cctv-police-2-crop.jpgThere is not a place in paradise awaiting terrorists – but there are abusive hate preachers who exploit vulnerable young Muslims in this life

The anti-Islam bandwagon has resurfaced in the wake of the Manchester attack, led by extremist commentators and a whole host of Islamophobes on social media. They reaffirm false ideologies spouted by Muslim radicals. The most popular of these false beliefs is that murdering innocents will take you to Heaven.

It won’t; according to the Quran, calling yourself a Muslim does not, in itself, make you worthy of paradise. Neither does killing people. After all, it was the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) who said, “a Muslim is one from whose hands and tongue people are safe.”

The Keepers: true-crime series to take the world by storm ‘better than Making a Murderer’

The Keepers, a seven-part series

The latest Netflix true-crime series to take the world by storm is The Keepers, a seven-part series focused on the unsolved murder of Sister Cathy Cesnik.

Baltimore nun Cesnik was murdered at the age of 26 in 1969 and, to this day, both the identity of her killer and cause of death have been shrouded in secrecy.

Viewers have been stunned by the twists and turns of the investigation that was spearheaded by Gemma Hoskins and Abbie Schaub, two former students of Archbishop Keough, the school where Cesnik taught at the time of her death.

Many articles have gone so far as claimed that the Ryan White-directed series is even superior to Netflix’s other true crime sensation, Making a Murderer.

In Stripped Bare, Marnie admits she was desperate for the scenes not to air and revealed MTV bosses had cut it from the show as it was “too X-rated”.

She said: “Chloe was laughing about it and saying, ‘Oh, it’s fine man,’ and I was like, ‘It’s not fine. I’ve got a boyfriend.’”

Russia successfully tests ‘unstoppable’ 4,600mph hypersonic weapon

The Zircon cruise missile travels between 3,800mph and 4,600mph – five to six times the speed of sound – and puts Russia ‘half a decade’ ahead of the US’, the report says.

This makes it faster than any anti-missile system, including those that are expected to appear in the next two decades.

All the available information about Zircon is based on rare comments from Russian officials and media leaks, which were not played down by the military and defense experts.

Dmitry Kornev, editor of Militaryrussia.ru, which collected the most complete profile on the Zircon missile, told RBTH that he believes the missiles were already launched from a Yasen-class attack submarine.

Covfefe: Trump may have just invented the word of 2017 (even if it was an accident)

If the President isn’t impressed about negative press covfefe coverage, he likely won’t be happy about the reaction to his midnight social media slip-up.

We may have just witnessed the birth of a word courtesy of an apparent typo in a tweet from Donald Trump.

This is how it all started:
