Hot air balloon crash lands on busy road forcing motorists to swerve in panic
Kim Foskett captured the dramatic crash landing on his dashcam as he travelled with his family along the A6 Market Harborough bypass in Leicestershire.
Truck driver Kim, 59, of Kettering, Northants., said: “Because of the trees we didn’t see it until we were really close.
“All of a sudden it was visible about five feet off the ground, and I thought, ‘Oh my God, it’s going to land in the middle of the road’.
“My wife and children were in the car with me and we were all just staring, wondering what was going to happen.
“One driver swerved out of the way, thinking it was going to hit his car.
“I don’t think it would have, but if a lorry had been coming along, the balloon could have been in real trouble.

Female ISIS suicide bomber cradling BABY before blowing both up in attack on Iraqi troops
CHILLING pictures are believed to show a female ISIS fighter clutching a baby moments before detonating her suicide vest.
The shocking images were captured by an Iraqi TV station moments before the suspected suicide bomber killed herself and the baby in an attack targeting Iraqi troops in Mosul, The Telegraph reports.
She can be seen holding her handbag and what appears to be a trigger in one hand, while cradling the tot in the other.
A cameraman for al-Mawsleya TV reportedly told The Telegraph the woman tried to detonate the vest near some soldiers, but it only went off once she had walked away.
The station didn’t realise it had caught her on camera until they analysed footage later.
The Sun Online has not been able to independently verify the identity of the woman.
The bomber and the baby were said to have died in the blast, while two soldiers and several civilians were injured.
It comes as the battle for Mosul nears its end, with the evil terror group cornered into a tiny square of the historic Old City.
Just a few hundred jihadis remain in the area, with airstrikes and artillery salvos pulverising their last line of defence.

Japan floods death toll rises to 15
The death toll from heavy rains and flooding in southern Japan has risen to 15, media reported Saturday, as rescuers continued work to bring out isolated survivors.
Thousands of rescuers have been fighting through thick mud and battling rain to search for missing and stranded people, with more than 600 believed to still be cut off according to Jiji Press.
Jiji and public broadcaster NHK reported the death toll had risen to 15 as more bodies were discovered.
The central government announced Friday an official death toll of seven with 22 people unaccounted for.
Deep mud and soaked ground on steep hillsides as well as knocked-out bridges have hampered rescue work.
TV footage has shown rescuers strapping people to cables to be lifted up to helicopters to be ferried to safety in evacuation shelters.

Saudi Arabia has ‘clear link’ to UK extremism, report says
Saudi Arabia is the chief foreign promoter of Islamist extremism in the UK, a new report has claimed.
The Henry Jackson Society said there was a “clear and growing link” between Islamist organisations in receipt of overseas funds, hate preachers and Jihadist groups promoting violence.
The foreign affairs think tank called for a public inquiry into the role of Saudi Arabia and other Gulf nations.
The UK’s Saudi Arabian embassy says the claims are “categorically false”.
Ministers are under pressure to publish a report on UK-based Islamist groups.
The Home Office report into the existence and influence of Jihadist organisations, commissioned by former Prime Minister David Cameron in 2015, has reportedly yet to be completed amid questions as to whether it will ever be published.

Thousands gather in Hong Kong for candlelight vigil marking 28 years since Tiananmen Square.
Thousands of Hong Kongers attended a candlelight vigil on Sunday to commemorate victims of the Chinese government’s 1989 brutal military crackdown on protesters in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square, while Taiwan’s president called on Beijing to “face up” to the history.
Hundreds if not thousands of unarmed protesters and onlookers were killed late on June 3 and the early hours of June 4, 1989, after China’s communist leaders ordered the military to retake Tiananmen Square from the student-led demonstrators. Commemoration of the events, whether public or private, remains taboo in mainland China.
Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen said in posts on Facebook and Twitter that 28 years ago, the actions of students and citizens who challenged the political system in China “inspired a generation.”
She appealed to Beijing to “face up to June 4 with an open mind” and said Taiwan was willing to share its experiences of transitioning to democracy in the late 1980s to ease the pains of such a transition in the mainland…

Raped Pakistan woman sentenced to death by stoning for adultery!
The woman said she was asleep at her family home in Rajanpur, in the country’s central Punjab province, when the attack happened.
She reported the crime to the local panchayat, a tribal court that operates outside the official justice system in remote areas of the country, but was told she had intentionally seduced her attacker, according to Daily Mail.
The panchayat, which included the alleged rapist’s father, then found her guilty of adultery and declared her a Kari, or adulteress, the Express Tribune reports.
As a result the teen was sentenced to death by stoning or to be sold off, according to the Hindustan Times and Tribune.
The council decided no action needed to be taken against the alleged rapist…

Country singer Loretta Lynn has stroke

A posting on country music legend Loretta Lynn’s website says she has been hospitalised after having a stroke.
The posting says Lynn was admitted into a Nashville hospital on Thursday night after suffering the stroke at her home in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.
Her website says she is responsive and expected to make a full recovery.
It says the 85-year-old has been advised by doctors to stay off the road while she recuperates, and upcoming scheduled shows will be postponed.
Lynn had a string of hits starting in the 1960s, including Coal Miner’s Daughter, You Ain’t Woman Enough, The Pill, and One’s on the Way.
Her songs reflect pride in her humble background and speak frankly of her experiences.
She won two Grammy Awards in 2005 for her album Van Lear Rose.

WA TAXPAYERS will wear tens of millions of dollars on the botched Muja power station
Energy Minister Ben Wyatt confirmed the 52-year-old power station in Collie will be shut in September next year amid moves to retire more than 400 MW of generating capacity owned by Synergy.
The decision, which Mr Wyatt blamed on the former Barnett government, turns the page on a tortuous chapter that has left taxpayers and energy consumers on the hook for huge losses.
Mr Wyatt described the refurbishment as “one of the former Liberal National government’s biggest debacles” and revealed it would be investigated as part of Labor’s commission of inquiry.
Its closure, with the loss of 19 current jobs, will be presaged by similar moves to close a raft of ageing gas-fired generators.
Those are the three units at Mungarra near Geraldton, West Kalgoorlie’s two turbines and a single generator at Kwinana.
All up, the decision will retire 436MW of State-owned Synergy’s generating fleet — or almost 20 per cent.
The Government will introduce a new generation cap of 2275MW, excluding renewable energy projects, to encourage great involvement by the private sector in WA’s energy market.
Initially budgeted at $150 million and designed to be financed entirely by the private sector, the revival of Muja AB was beset by repeated blow-outs to its cost and time-frame.
Its final cost was put at $310 million while it was delivered 18 months late after a corroded boiler exploded and the joint venture between Synergy and Geelong-based engineering firm Kemp went broke.
Since being completed, Muja AB has also been plagued by operational and reliability problems, producing just 20 per cent of the time on average.
Mr Wyatt, who visited Collie yesterday to deliver the news to workers at Muja AB, labelled the original decision to refurbish the plant as a “shocker” but could not put a figure on the total loss to the State.
He said commercial considerations had driven the closures, while stressing they would not risk the security of supply.
“It was in hindsight a very poor decision and it is a cost that is being carried by the bills of Synergy customers,” he said.

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is critical in enabling many of our technologies. GPS allows us to get accurate directions while we drive, helps emergency responders to quickly find callers, tracks how far we ran during a workout, and much more.
Despite how ubiquitous GPS has become, and how essential it is for so many technologies we’ve come to take for granted, I realized that I didn’t know that much about GPS.
At a high level, I thought I understood how GPS works. Satellites transmit their location, and by using three of them you can solve for your own location in 3D space, right?
